Town Museum

The Town Museum is housed in the former château in the upper part of the square.

The interactive exposition in the reconstructed museum is interesting not only for adults, but also smaller visitors thanks to many details.

One of the most important exhibits is the largest collection of moldavite in Bohemia – a green "stone" created by the fall of meteorites, is beautifully presented in a space dedicated exclusively to this topic – you will find an audiovisual presentation of their origin and a large number of actual stones.

Other parts of the museum showcase the Týn nad Vltavou treasure in holographic form, the Velký Depot military camp, original graves, the history of rowing, an original Czech home and the history of cinematography and Czech education.

The upper floor offers an exhibition of puppetry (Czech puppetry was inscribed on the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2016) in memory of Matěj Kopecký, who is also buried in the town.
